15 Minute Kheema Pav Sloppy Joes

This Mumbai street food classic is so delicious that you won’t believe it’s ready in 15 minutes. Looking for something a bit different from your usual sloppy joes recipe? We have you covered.

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cooking time: 10 minutes


  • ½ pound ground lamb
  • ½ tsp cooking oil
  • Handful of chopped cilantro
  • 2 tbsp Smoki Garam Masala
  • 1 red onion, sliced
  • ½ a lime, in wedges
  • 1 tsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 tomato, grated (can use ¼ cup of canned tomato instead)
  • 4 dinner buns
  • 1 tbsp butter


  1. Heat a pan over a high heat. When it’s hot, add the oil, and then add the lamb. Cook until just starting to brown, 3-4 minutes. Add the grated tomato, tomato ketchup, and cook for a further minute. Add the Smoki and cilantro, stir to combine, and set aside. 
  2. Heat another pan over a medium heat, and add the butter. Place the buns, cut side down in the pan, and allow to toast, 2-3 minutes. 
  3. To serve, serve the buns alongside the kheema, onions, and lime. Use the bread to scoop up the kheema, or make cute lil sandwiches.
