Looking for the best green bean casserole recipe for your holiday dinner or get together? Just looking for some fun Christmas dinner recipes? This quick and easy green bean casserole is sure to be the most popular thing on your table.
Serves 4-6
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 25 minutes
Ingredients:
- 400-500g green beans
- 100g button/cremini mushrooms
- 4 tbsp Hakka-ish Chili Crisp
- 2 tbsp all purpose flour
- 2 tbsp cooking oil/butter
- Salt, to taste
- 250ml half & half cream
- 50g crackers/breadcrumbs
- 50g mature cheddar cheese
Method:
- Slice the mushrooms, and remove the stem end of the green beans.
- Heat a pan over a medium-high heat. Add the oil or butter, and then the mushrooms. Cook for 1 minute, stirring frequently, and then add the flour. Cook for a further 2 minutes, and then add the cream slowly while stirring to prevent lumps from being formed.
- Bring to a boil, and add the green beans. Cook for 2-3 minutes, until just starting to soften. Add a sprinkle of salt to taste.
- While the green beans cook, make the breading. If using crackers, crush in a bag until they’re similar in consistency to breadcrumbs. Grate the cheese, and add to the breading, and then add half of the Hakka-ish.
- Sprinkle the breading over the green beans, and place under a preheated broiler, or in an oven preheated to 430f. Cook for a few minutes until the breading is bubbling, and golden brown.
- Serve, topped with the remaining Hakka-ish
