Serves 2

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cooking time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2x steaks (we used 10oz strip steaks, but used whatever steak you prefer)

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 tbsp cooking oil

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 1 shallot (chopped)

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1oz whisky or brandy (optional)

  • 1 tbsp Ooomami Savoury Seasoning Salt

  • 1 stalk of rosemary

  • ¼ cup heavy cream

Method:

  1. Heat a heavy based pan over a high heat, add the oil, season your steaks with salt and cook to your desired doneness. Set aside to rest.

  2. While the steak rests, make the pan sauce. Drain any remaining oil from the pan, and add the butter. Add the shallots and rosemary, and cook over a high heat for approx 30 seconds, until the shallots start to soften.

  3. If using the whisky/brandy, add to the pan (make sure you have adequate space on your stove for the alcohol to burn), otherwise add a splash of water to deglaze.

  4. Add the cream and Ooomami, and allow to thicken slightly.

  5. To serve, slice the steak, and pour the umami-rich sauce on top. Serve with whatever starch and veggies you like, we served it with this umami packed potato salad.
