Easy Apple Galette with Buzz Hot Honey – No Spices Needed

Warm apples, golden pastry, and Buzz Hot Honey magic. This rustic galette skips the spices but keeps all the flavour — a flaky, fiery-sweet dessert that looks fancy but is shockingly easy to make.

Serves: 4–6
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 45 minutes
Total time: 1 hour

Ingredients

Pastry:

  • 200g all-purpose flour

  • 25g (2 tbsp) sugar

  • 150g salted butter

  • 65g cold water

Filling:

  • 3 red apples

  • 50g sugar

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch or potato starch

  • Pinch of salt

  • 1 tsp (5g) lime or lemon juice

Garnish:

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

  • 1 tbsp coarse brown sugar (we used Turbinado sugar)

  • 4 tbsp Buzz Hot Honey

Method

  1. Make the pastry:
Cut butter into cubes and chill for at least 15 minutes. In a food processor, pulse flour, sugar, and butter until crumbly. Slowly add cold water while pulsing until just combined.
If making by hand: Rub the butter into the flour and sugar until crumbly, then add water and gently bring it together with fingertips.

  2. Wrap and chill the dough for 30 minutes.

  3. Prep the filling:
Core and thinly slice the apples. Toss with sugar, starch, salt, and citrus juice. No need to pre-cook — Buzz Hot Honey brings all the spiced, caramel flavour once baked.

  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface until ~1cm thick and ~30cm wide. Transfer to a parchment-lined tray.

  5. Assemble:
Arrange apples in the center, leaving a 2-inch border. Fold crust edges over the apples. Brush crust with egg wash and sprinkle with coarse sugar.

  6. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 45 minutes, rotating the tray halfway through. Cool on a wire rack.

  7. Finish with Buzz:
Spoon Buzz Hot Honey generously over the apples while warm or just before serving. It melts into the fruit, adding a lush sweet-heat finish.

Why Buzz Hot Honey?

This recipe skips cinnamon, nutmeg and other baking spices  — Buzz Hot Honey does the heavy lifting. Its sweet-heat complexity caramelizes naturally as it melts into the warm apples, making this galette faster and bolder than the classic.
