Spicy Garlic Patty Melt

Summer time comfort food at it's best! Garlic, cheese, patty come together to create the best summer sandwich! 

Serves 2

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cooking time: 10 minutes


  • 4 slices of rye bread (or any sliced bread)
  • 400g ground beef
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 slices American cheese
  • 50g grated mozzarella (cheddar or monterey jack will work just as well)
  • 4 tbsp Mogambo Garlic Spread


  1. Divide the meat into 4 pieces, and form into patties. 
  2. Heat a wide pan over a high heat, and add the burger patties. Season with the salt and allow to brown. Let them sit without disturbing them for 2-3 minutes until there's a good, hard sear at the bottom. 
  3. Flip over, and top with the cheese. Place a slice of the American cheese on two of the patties, and place the mozzarella onto the two other patties. Allow the burgers to cook through, approx 1-2 minutes. 
  4. Spread the Mogambo on to the bread, and place the patties on. Form into sandwiches, and cook them in the pan you cooked the patties in, similar to how you’d cook a grilled cheese. When browned on both sides, cut in half and serve
