Easy Mattar Paneer

This Mattar Paneer recipe uses Smoki Garam Masala as a flavourful shortcut, blending creamy paneer and sweet green peas in a rich, smoky-spiced tomato gravy. Perfect for a quick yet bold dish.

Serves 2-4

Cooking time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • ½ a can of tomatoes

  • 1 onion

  • 4 cloves of garlic

  • 1 inch piece of ginger

  • 1 pack of paneer

  • 3 tbsp heavy cream

  • Pinch of methi (fenugreek leaves)

  • 1 cup of frozen peas

  • 4 tbsp Smoki Garam Masala

  • Coriander leaves

  • 1 tbsp cooking oil

Method:

  1. Chop the onion, garlic and ginger. Heat the oil in a pan, and add the garlic, ginger and onions and saute until soft and starting to brown. Add the tomatoes, bring to a boil and remove from the heat. 

  2. Cut the paneer into cubes, place on a tray lined with parchment, and bake at 420f for 5 mins until browned on the outside.

  3. Puree the onion and tomato mix and return to the pan.

  4. Add ¾ of the Smoki and bring to a simmer.

  5. Add the paneer, ⅔ o the cream, and the peas to the sauce and bring back to a simmer.

  6. Spoon over the remaining cream, sprinkle over the remaining Smoki, methi and coriander leaves to finish.
